Michelle Bland has 30 years experience in teaching exercise. Michelle’s career began as a Care Assistant working with people with dementia before progressing on to become a Care Manager in both public and private care settings. Michelle then moved on to manage the Exercise Referral Scheme “PALS” for Kirklees Council for 20 years. During this time, she gained valuable experience working with cardiac and pulmonary hospital rehabilitation teams to enable people recovering after a cardiac/pulmonary event to stay active. Michelle also developed skills in adapting exercise for a variety of populations including with people who have experienced head trauma, strokes, arthritis, fibromyalgia, diabetes, cancer, anxiety, low Mood/ depression and those who are socially isolated. Michelle has also tutored on YMCA fitness and Exercise To Music Courses.
Michelle has an extensive background in sport being a keen hockey player, cyclist and runner. Michelle began her own yoga journey after regularly attending classes and was surprised at how her flexibility, mobility and core strength improved. Coming into the classes she would often feel anxious and tired but after the physical workout and relaxation at the end of the sessions found she was so relaxed and would go home feeling able to cope much better, much more at peace with herself and mentally stronger. This inspired her to train as a yoga and Pilates trainer. Yoga has transformed her life.
